I did not create the expression "Footscrazy" or even "iheartfootscrazy". That is the affectionate term it's longer-term residents gave it, shown in the plethora of "iheartfootscrazy" bumper stickers driving around.
I am as surprised as anyone else this domain name wasn't taken already.
There are many reasons to have an emotional reaction to the western suburbs. Let's start with the photographs of "westographer" Warren Kirk's https://www.flickr.com/photos/70980743@N03/

Welcome
Footscray: just like everywhere else, but more
Just like any successful boy band, each suburb of Melbourne has it's unique characteristics: Brunswick is the hipster- barista, Toorak is the fancy-snob, Epping is the cage-fighter, and Melton is the nobody knows because nobody can be bothered going there.
Other suburbs garnish their self descriptions with "we have a big Italian/Jewish/Lebanese/Ukrainian/ Chinese community"
Footscray gets to say "We got Chinese + Vietnamese + Ethiopian +Bangladeshi + Indian + Greek +Sudanese +Croatians +the classic English/Irish descent contingent" Add to that students +bogans+ ice addicts, and Shazzamo: the suburb of all suburbs!
